Duke vs. Georgia Tech game preview

Duke and Georgia Tech are set to meet for the second time this season. Duke will be looking for revenge after falling to Georgia Tech when these teams played in December.

Since losing to Georgia Tech, Duke has been on a tear. They enter this game riding a seven game winning streak.

Georgia Tech has gone in an opposite direction of late. Since their win over Duke, they have gone 4-5 and are 0-3 in ACC play.

What to watch for:

Exploiting Georgia Tech’s three point shooting weakness

Georgia Tech is one of the worst shooting teams in the country. They rank 314th in the country in team three point percentage at 29.4%. The scouting report says to force the Yellow Jackets into taking threes.

Georgia Tech shot 30% (7-23) from beyond the arc when these teams met in December.

Defending Baye Ndongo

Duke had no answer for Georgia Tech’s Baye Ndongo in December’s matchup. The six-foot-nine freshman registered 21 points on 9/11 from the field when these teams first met. Duke will have to do a much better job at being physical with him.

Will Duke continue to generate open looks?

Duke’s offense put forth arguably their best performance of the season Tuesday against Pittsburgh. They were able to generate open looks on nearly every possession. If they can replicate this, it would be a great sign for the direction in which this team is moving.

Can Duke keep Georgia Tech off the offensive glass?

Georgia Tech’s greatest offensive strength is their ability to generate second chance opportunities. Their offensive rebounding percentage of 33.8% ranks 36th in the country. If Duke can stay disciplined on the glass and limit Georgia Tech to one shot, the Yellow Jackets may have a hard time scoring in this one.
